Current issues related to the Russian economy are discussed.

Course Objectives
To teach students to analyze and highlight important points in the official economic documents they read.
Course Outcomes
1. Students become familiar with economic terms in Russian, know their meanings and can use them.
2. Students learn the basic rules of Russian economy and can compare them with others.
3. Students can engage in dialogue on economic issues, ask questions and discuss official documents.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: Introduction to the course. The Russian economy in a global context.
Week 2: Basic features of the Russian economy.
Week 3: Stages of historical development of the Russian economy.
Week 4: Economic relations with other countries.
Week 5: Economic structure of Russia. Main sectors of the economy (industry, agriculture, services).
Week 6: The role of energy and natural resources.
Week 7: Development of small and medium-sized businesses in Russia.
Week 8: Tax system of Russia.
Week 9: Ruble and foreign exchange market.
Week 10: Standard of living and poverty in Russia.
Week 11: Final discussion and lesson review.
Week 12: Final exam.
