In this course, students will be able to explain the cultural and social structure of countries that include close to half of the world population, such as Russia, the Middle East or China, business, education, economy and inter-country relations.

To introduce students to the basic aspects of Russian culture, traditions, social and everyday life, and to help them develop the language skills necessary for communication in a variety of situations. This course will help students not only better understand Russia, but also feel more confident in a Russian-speaking environment.
1. Students can expand their vocabulary related to Russian culture, society and daily life.
2. Students can learn about Russian traditions, holidays and communication etiquette.
3. Students can communicate in daily and formal environments (shopping, cafe, transportation, work) and express their opinions on social and cultural issues in a logical manner.
Week 1: Introduction to the lesson. Russia: Geography and Regions. Basic information about Russia: area, population, administrative divisions. Major cities and regions, differences between them.
Week 2: Major cities and regions, differences between them. Climate and natural zones of Russia. Major tourist attractions.
Week 3: Russian language and culture of communication. The role of the Russian language in the world. Politeness and etiquette in Russia (greetings, address, compliments);
Week 4: Formal and informal communication, the difference between "you" and "You". Features of communication in transport, shopping, public places.
Week 5: Russian traditions and holidays. Public holidays (Russia Day, Victory Day, New Year). National holidays (Maslenitsa, Ivan Kupala).
Week 6: Family traditions (weddings, birthdays). Modern holidays and customs.
Week 7: Russian cuisine and gastronomic culture. Traditional dishes and drinks (borscht, dumplings, pancakes, kvass).
Week 8: Russian tea and tea-drinking culture. How to order in a cafe or restaurant. Shops, markets and products in Russia.
Week 9: Modern society and lifestyle. Family and everyday life in Russia. Education: schools, universities.
Week 10: Working day, rest, hobbies. Media, Internet and social networks in Russia.
Week 11: Art, Culture and Sports in Russia. Music and ballet. Olympiad. Theater and cinema.
Week 12: Final exam
