Course Description
The definition of Human Resource Management, its fundamental functions, the concept of wages, managerial characteristics, and new developments in Human Resources are covered.

Course Objectives
The course aims to cover the definition, scope, organizational structure, and significance of Human Resource Management, as well as personnel management and core functions of human resources management.
It includes topics such as job analysis and design, human resource planning, recruitment process, performance evaluation system, wage concept, wage systems, job evaluation, occupational safety and employee health, managerial characteristics, work principles, corporate culture, and new developments in human resources.
Course Outcomes
1. Can analyze the fundamental concepts, functions, and role of human resource management within an organization.
2. Can evaluate and implement human resource planning and recruitment processes.
3. Can analyze how human resource management is shaped within the framework of labor law, social security law, and ethics.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: The concept of human resource management will be examined at a conceptual level. Differences between personnel management and human resource management will be discussed.
Week 2: An introduction to human resource functions will be provided, and these functions will be analyzed in terms of internal and external environments.
Week 3: The characteristics of human resource functions within the framework of Labor Law and Social Security Law will be explained.
Week 4: The concept of job analysis and related processes will be covered, with examples illustrating the technical aspects of job analysis.
Week 5: Human resource planning and its characteristics will be examined, with a focus on the necessary conditions for effective human resource planning. Practical applications will also be included.
Week 6: The hiring process in human resource management and its effects will be analyzed with company-based examples. This week, HR Directors from leading corporate firms in the country will be invited as guest speakers to present to students.
Week 7: Topics related to efficiency and performance in businesses will be covered. Human resource management processes related to efficiency and performance measurement will be explained with examples.
Week 8: The key concept of "wages" in human resource management will be examined from both economic and legal perspectives. Along with the wage concept, the classification of payments considered as wages under national labor law will be explained. Practical information regarding wages and similar payments in Turkey's legal framework will be shared.
Week 9: The concept of job evaluation will be explained, along with its components and functions. A sample job evaluation form will be used to demonstrate practical applications within a business context.
Week 10: An introduction to international human resource management will be provided, and this topic will be discussed through academic articles. Students are expected to actively participate by expressing their views and reflecting on previously covered topics.
Week 11: Occupational Health and Safety developments in human resource management will be discussed with company-based examples. A presentation will emphasize the legal framework of the subject in Turkey and the significance of the system.
Week 12: Recent developments in human resource management at both the national and international levels will be examined from both academic and practical perspectives. The course will conclude with a discussion on the significance of these management approaches for businesses.
