This course introduces the fundamental topics of development economics. The central question of the course is why some countries develop and prosper while others fail. It examines the factors that support economic development and the key characteristics of developing countries.

The aim of the course is to introduce students to concepts such as economic development, human development, growth, poverty, inequality, and human capital, while also familiarizing them with fundamental development theories.
