The course is a departmental elective course for the undergraduate students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Students from other departments can take it as a faculty or university elective.
Course Description
The course “European Integration: Theory and Historical Development” aims to conduct an in-depth examination of the formation and evolution of the European Union in the context of international relations by addressing the integration processes among European countries. The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive perspective by analyzing the historical roots, political, economic and social dimensions of European integration; and also the theoretical approaches in this process. Thus, discussions are carried out on the current effects and future of the European integration process.

Course Objectives
The objectives of the course “European Integration: Theory and Historical Development” include understanding the historical development of the European integration process and addressing the basic theoretical frameworks in this process. It aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and analysis skills to understand the political, economic and social dynamics of the European Union. In addition, it is aimed to develop students' critical thinking skills on this subject by evaluating Europe's global role and its effects on international relations.

The aim was to obtain information about the institutional identity of the EU with the briefing received by visiting the EU Delegation with the students.
Course Outcomes
1. ⁠ ⁠Students learn the historical development of the European integration process and establish connections between important events and documents in this process, thus gaining a better understanding of the current structure of the European Union.
2. ⁠ ⁠Students learn the basic theories of European Integration and develop their critical thinking skills by analyzing the reflections of these theories in the context of current international relations.
3. ⁠ ⁠Students learn the role of Europe in the international arena and gain the ability to develop solutions to global problems by evaluating the effects of this role on world politics.
4. ⁠ ⁠Students learn the social, economic and political dynamics between different European countries and gain a multidimensional perspective by understanding the effects of these dynamics on the European Integration process.
