The course is compulsory for students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Students of other departments can take it as an elective course.
International Political Economy (IPE) as a field of study explains how interaction between states and non-state actors regarding international, trade, prodcution and finance have emerged and evolved through continitiues and changes within a historcial context. IPE analyzes major issues based on power, wealth, economic growth (welfare) in the world politics through the evolution of modern state by focusing on capitalism and globalization process.

The major aim of the course is to develop undergraduate students' knowledge about how interaction between states and non-state actors regarding international, trade, production and finance have emerged and evolved through continitiues and changes within a historcial context. The course will prepare students to SUİ 306 International Political Economy course by introducing studens to the theories of IPE in order to analyze major issues in a more comprehesive way in SUİ 306.
1. Students will learn historical developments and current trends in IPE.
2. Students will develop their skills to analyze major problems in IPE by learning major theories of the IPE at introduction level .
3. Students will apply acquired course knowledge and different arguments of IPE theories by analysing historical and contemporary events in short written assignments.
4. Students will learn to follow daily news and major reports by leading international organization regarding international, trade, production and finance.

Week 3: Theoretical perspectives-Realism, Pre-1945 history of the global political economy, the era from the Industrial Revolution till the First World War
